Gisteren hebben we een workshop gevolgd bij Taartendroom in Helmond. Hier hebben we geleerd om vanuit een plaatje een "topper" te maken voor op een taart. Hiervoor had ik een plaatje uitgezocht van een leuke pandabeer. Met behulp van fondant (wit, bruin, groen) en marsepein (zwart) lukte het om er een leuke 3D versie van te maken.

On October 12th I had a workshop at www.taartendroom.nl. From a picture we made a 3D-"topper" for on a cake. I choose a picture of a nice pandabear to work with.

Boetseren met fondant

Mijn vriendin en ik besloten om dit najaar een aantal workshops te gaan volgen.

De eerste op het programma was een workshop op 6 oktober 2011 : boetseren met fondant bij Lies Cakeshop in Houten. Hoewel de locatie moeilijk te vinden is, is het een hele leuke workshop en dat het een uur uitliep was ook geen probleem. Belangrijkste was dat we twee poppetjes hadden geboetseerd. Daarna een praktisch doosje en we konden naar huis, nagenieten van wat we hadden gemaakt.

Helaas is tijdens het vervoer het Koeienpoppetje iets ingezakt en de handjes afgezakt, dat was duidelijk nog niet genoeg uitgehard toen we de reis naar huis aanvingen.

Knifty Knitter

I discovered the Knifty Knitter (knitting loom). I'm not so good knitting, but with this tool it is made easy, even for me. My friend had this set of knitting looms. Before buying these looms myself I wanted to try it out. So during my holiday I made some hats. I first tried making a babyhat, that was easy...

So I made two hats (one for me and one for a friend):

Next on the loom is a scarve. I made one, but didn't like it, it was too small so now I've taken a bigger loom to make a new one.

And of course I placed an order to get my own knitting looms...

Voor mijn oom kwam al vlug het idee om zijn taart te versieren als moestuin en hierbij het resultaat:

Taart is van biscuitdeeg gemaakt met kaneelsuiker.

Er zit een bosvruchtenvulling is.

Meeste bekleding is fondant en een beetje glazuur.

de "aarde" is gemaakt van suiker, gekleurd met bruine voedingsmiddelenkleurstof.

Voor mijn peetmoeder werd het een rozentaartje:

biscuitdeeg taartje, gevuld met frisse vlaaivulling (blikje) en bekleed met fondant.

En na afloop met een pearl-spray bespoten voor de glans...

Voor mijn neef zijn verjaardag een eenvoudige amandel-wondercake gebakken en deze gecoreerd met fondant en glazuur.

Oefening baart kunst, dus dit keer maar eens wat kindercakes gemaakt.

Voor het hondje heb ik donkerbruine fondant gemengd met een beetje caramelkleuringe fondant:

De olifant was moeilijk mbt de oren. De cake heb ik versierd en vervolgens in het muffinblik laten "drogen" zodat de oren uiteindelijk overeind bleven.

En als laatste een rose varkentje:

Bonbon

Bij het maken van een taart, bijvoorbeeld de boottaart, houdt je veel cake over.

Deze stukken kun je natuurlijk lekker opeten, maar je kunt er ook bonbons of kinderlollies mee maken.

Hiervoor kruimel je de cake en door de cake doe je glazuur (of warme jam), zodat het een plakkerig geheel wordt. Van dit mengsel draai je kleine balletjes:

Deze balletjes haal je vervolgens door de gesmolten chocola (je hebt ook gekleurde melt chocola, wat leuk is wanneer je lollies maakt, of je dompelt ze door glazuur) en laat je vervolgens afkoelen op een rooster: (bij lollies kun je ze steken in een soort piepschuim en de lollie op die manier laten afkoelen.

Het resultaat zijn zoete, maar wel heel lekkere bonbons.

Steek er een lolliestokje in en je hebt lollies.

Rozen voor vader

Voor mijn vader heb ik een rozentaartje gemaakt.

De taart is gemaakt van kaneel-biscuitdaag en gevuld met abrikozenvulling. De taart is geheel bekleed met fondant een de gele lijnen zijn getrokken met een glazuurstift.

Een vriend van me vierde dit jaar zijn verjaardag op de camping in Wemeldingen. Hij is druk bezig met het opknappen van zijn bootje, dus voor zijn verjaardag moest er gewoon een boot-taart komen.

De boot bevat een kokos-biscuittaart met een abrikozenvulling. Bekleding is fondant en het "water" is van botercreme en een beetje witte glazuur.

Fleurige vlindertaart

Mijn oom was eind juli jarig. Voor hem heb ik deze fleurige vlindertaart gemaakt.

Gebruik is amandelwondercake met een speculaasspread als vulling. De taart is bekleed met fondant en gekleurde icing.

Voor een zonaanbidder heb ik de volgende verjaardagstaart gemaakt:

Wat ontbrak is het ware strand en daar kwam ik natuurlijk pas na sluitingstijd van de winkels achter. ALternatief "bruine basterdsuiker" om de klus te klaren:

De verjaardagsgasten vonden het geboetseerde paartje een treffende gelijkenis met de jarige job en zijn partner.

Yesterday, my dog had his first birthday. And like I do for my family, I mean he's family too, I baked a birthdaycake. This time the theme was dog with bone. I git the idea from a book from Debbie Brown. And this is the result:

The bone is covered with sugarpaste. The dog is made from "marsepein".
Unfortunately for the dog the cake was not for him, since there was chocolat in it. He got his special bowl with wipped cream...

January 19th my godson had his 9th birthday. Traditionally I made him a birthdaycake. Because he loves soccer (he is a fan of Willem II, our hometown soccerclub) I made him this soccer-birthdaycake. I made a little mistake with the cream, put to much water in it, so the sugarpaste started to melt on the sides unfortunatelly. Nevertheless I think the cake itself looked great.

Inspiration was the show of Michael Strong on TV weekly called "Heavy metal".
I cut the soda-cans and put the metal through the cuttlebug. A few I kept clean and others I colored with alcohol ink.

Serendipity

The June-challange at kico-stampers was making a card with a technique called serendipity.

I was not familiar with this technique. The technique-discription says that one take ones left-overs or misstampings, put it al together and make a new card out of it. So that is what I did. I had a miss-try of a technique called pointilism, a ghost-card and a basic stamping and coloring card. Cut it all up and weave a new background. Thought the colors where not very strong, so put some watercolor on. From other left-over paper bits I punched flowers and the end result is a nice card full with flowers.

Rainbow resist / Stempelen met chloor

Hi,

Our new challange is stamping with bleech.

From the old days :) a few examples

Ingredients:

* glossy paper

* pigment ink (light colours)

* dye ink (big and juicy for example)

* brayer

* bleech

* paper towel

* stamps

Color your paper with different colors of the pigment ink. After it is dry, you put with your brayer the dye ink on it, covering the whole card. Again let everything dry a bit.

Prepare a stampingpad using the paper towel and the bleech. Push your stamp on the bleech stampingpad and then on your card. The bleech will remove the dye ink and the pigment ink will shine through the bleeched spot.

Make sure to clean your stamp very well directly after you are finished. Otherwise you'll have one stamp less because of the bleech !!!

Hope you'll liked this little class. Hope to show you soon some new resukts using this technique.

Hi,

On a dutch yahoogroup, called Kicostampers, this month chalange was to make something with Teykol or perfect resist. I made the following 3 cards:

Stamps used are the fairy from Joanna Sheen (if I'm not mistaken), the girls are from whiff of joy and the background is made with stamps from club scrap. Coloring is brought on the cards by using a brayer.

I'm sorry I haven't put any new work on it for a while. The reason is that I've been very busy at work and my god-mother has had an heart-attack. So all my free-time I've been crusing back and forward to the hospitals in Venlo and Eindhoven. This weekend my god-mother got home again, so I probably will get some time to make some projects.

Thanks for stopping by at my blog... I've been quite for a while, but I'm back again... After a week spending time at the coast of the province Zeeland (the Netherlands), I'm back home. And it was time to do something I was planning to do for a while now....

It was october 4th, world animalday... no vacations planned, so time to give an animal a new home and find rabbit Denny a new friend.

Of course I could not decide, so I got two new animals. And as I do with new arrivals, I made a little announcement card.

This teabox I made a while back. Because I didn't have a digital camera, I could not show it. This is the first picture I made with my camera. Unfortunately It doesn't show the coloring of the picture. I guess I have to practise some more with the camera.
I made several of these boxes, each with another picture in the middle. The picture in the middle is regular stamping, colored with aquarel-pencils. The box itself is of wood. I put metalic tape on the box and worked the metal with different colors of alcohol ink. Finished it all with a little ribbon.

There is an anti word verification campaign on the go at the moment. I saw it at dawn's blog and I agree her statement. Word Verification is such a hindrance especially for us blog hoppers who love visiting as much blogs as possible. Untill the blogmessage at Dawn's I didn't realise it was turned on! Of course I checked it out and now it is off.

my colleague has become a father of a baby-girl. On their card (front) was a butterfly and her name. So I made this card to congratulate the parents on their new-born.
In the end I thought this was a little bit too much, so I removed the purplefiber. And that was a lot better. I hope they like it too :-)

technique: batik

Batik

benodigdheden:

* papier/ kaart

* versamark of witte pigment inkt

* clear embossingpoeder

* heatgun

* stempels naar keuze

* 2 of 3 kleuren stempelinkt

* absorberend papier, bijv. krant of van ouderwets kladblok

* strijkijzer

Druk de stempel diverse malen af op je papier met versamark of witte pigment inkt. Strooi over de nog natte inkt de embossingpoeder. Schud te kaart en/of geef tegen de achterkant een tik om overtollig poeder van de kaart af te krijgen. Het overtollige poeder kun je weer terug in het potje van je embospoeder doen en voor een andere keer gebruiken. Laat het poeder smelten met behulp van de heatgun.

(zie techniekbeschrijving van embossen)

Kleur nu de kaart (direct-to-paper of via make-up sponsje) met verschillende kleuren inkt. Is de kaart gekleurd zoals gewenst, dan leg je op de kaart een vel absorberend papier (kladpapier).

Beweeg nu een hete schrijkijzer over het kladpapier. De hitte van de strijkijzer smelt het embossing en het kladpapier absorbeert deze. Wanneer de embossing van de kaart is gestreken laat het kladpapier gewoon los (daarvoor plakt deze aan de kaart vast...). De kaart is klaar en kan naar wens worden afgewerkt.

Batik

ingredients:

* cardstock

* versamark or white pigment ink

* clear embossingpowder

* heatgun

* stamps

* 2 or 3 colours of stampingink

* absorbing paper (like paper of newspaper)

* iron

Stamp your image on the cardstock with versamark or white pigment ink. Put over the (wet) image the embossingpowder. Remove the access by a little push with your finger on the back of the card. The access can be used an other time, so put it back in the embossingpowder-container. Embos (see technique embossing)

Colour the card (direct-to-paper or with use of sponge with the different colours of stampingink. When you like the colouring stop. Put on the card a piece of absorbing paper. Go with the iron over the absorbing paper. The heat of the iron will make the embossing melt and the absorbing paper absorb the embossing. When all the embossing is melted away the absorbing paper will go off the card easilly (won't stick on the card anymore). The batik is finished and the card can be finished any way you want to.

Technique: using a stampruler

Stempellineaal
Benodigdheden:
* papier
* stempelliniaal
* glasplaatje of dik mica
(Ik gebruik een glasplaatje uit een goedkoop fotolijstje van de xenos)
* Stazon (zwart)
* stempels naar keuze

Leg je glasplaatje tegen de stempelliniaal. beinkt je stempel met Stazon en druk hem precies in de hoek van je liniaal af op je glasplaat, Je hebt de afdruk nu op de glasplaat staan. Pak je kaart en bekijk waar je de stempel op je kaart wilt afdrukken door met je glasplaat over het papier te schuiven. Heb je de plek gevonden... schuif je liniaal tegen de glasplaat aan. Beinkt je stempel. Houd de liniaal goed op z'n plek en haal het glasplaatje weg. Druk de stempel af door deze weer in de hoek van de liniaal te zetten. Werk de kaart af al gewenst.

De afdruk van de bladeren en het gezicht is op mica. Door het mica om te draaien en op de andere zijde te stempelen is een spiegelbeeld gemaakt van het blad en het gezicht een heel gezicht geworden.

De techniek is handig als je bijvoorbeeld teksten recht op een kaart wenst te plaatsen...

Stampruler/positioner
Ingredients:
* cardstock
* stampruler/positioner
* piece of glass or thick mica
(I use a piece of glass from a frameless cheap photoframe)
* Stazon (black)
* stamps

Put the glass against the ruler. Ink your stamp and put the stamp precisely in the corner of the ruler, leaving a print on the glass. Take the cardstock. By moving the glass over it you can plan where you want the stamp to be. Found the position? Put the ruler against the glass and remove the glass carefully. Ink the stamp and press the stamp in the corner of the ruler leaving a print on the cardstock.

The card with the leaves and the face is printed on a piece of mica. By turning the mica and using the ruler I printed a reflection in reverse or mader the face compleet.

Yesterday I went to my stampingbuddy Patti. We spend a lot of time chatting , but I did manage to make and finish one card. A bit early maybe, but a true halloweencard!

What I had in mind, didn't work out... so I had to change my idea along the way... The finished card is therefore more than one technique (stamping, masking, mystique) but I think the result is just right....

technique: embossing

Embossing

benodigdheden:
* papier/ kaart
* versamark of pigment inkt
* embossingpoeder
* heatgun
* stempels naar keuze

Druk de stempel diverse malen af op je papier met versamark of pigment inkt. Strooi over de nog natte inkt de embossingpoeder. Schud te kaart en/of geef tegen de achterkant een tik om overtollig poeder van de kaart af te krijgen. Het overtollige poeder kun je weer terug in het potje van je embospoeder doen en voor een andere keer gebruiken. Laat het poeder smelten met behulp van de heatgun. Bewees de heatgun boven de kaart, om het embossingpoeder gelijkmatig te laten smelten. Houd de heatgun niet te lang en/of te dichtbij, het embossingpoeder kan dan namelijk verbranden. Het gaat ook met een broodrooster, maar de kans dat je kaart verbrand is groot... Werk de kaart af zoals gewenst.

Door gebruik van pigment inkt en clear embossingpoeder heb je een heel palet met kleurembossing. Gebruik je een gekleurde embossingpoeder, dan is het gebruik van versamark aan te bevelen. De embossingpoeder kleurt dan, zodat je van een gebruikte pigmentinktkleur niks meer ziet.

Embossing
ingredients:
* cardstock
* versamark of pigment ink
* embossingpowder
* heatgun
* stamps

Stamp your image on the cardstock with versamark or pigment ink. Put over the wet inked image the embossingpowder. Remove the access by a little push with your finger on the back of the card. The access can be used an other time, so put it back in the embossingpowder-container. Melt the embossingpowder with use of the heatgun. Move the heatgun above the card, so the powder will melt evenly. If you put the heatgun too long or too close to the card, the powder will burn. You can also use a toaster for melting the embossingpowder, but the change of burning your card and the embossingpowder is bigger. Finish the card as desired.

By using pigment ink and clear embossingpowder you'll have a whole range of embossingcolours. When using a coloured embossingpowder, you might as well use the versamark, since the colour of pigment ink won't show through the melted coloured embossingpowder.

this card I started making last tuesday when I was at my stampingpall Patti.

The background is made with my spin&splash. stamp is from enchanted ink. The wings have some drops of diamond glaze, to give it some dimension, unfortunately the scan doesn't show that.

technique: masking

Maskeren

benodigdheden:
* papier / kaart
* kladpapier/
post-it / memorol
* StazOn zwart
* inkt
* "open" stempel (om in te kleuren)
* achtergrond-stempels

Stempel een afdruk met zwarte inkt op je kaart. Druk hem nogmaals af op het kladpapier. Knip de afbeelding uit het kladpapier. - knip iets binnen de lijnen, anders krijg je witte randjes om de afbeelding - Plak de uitgeknipte afdrukt met non-permanente lijm over de afbeelding op de kaart. Stempel met andere stempels een achtergrond. Je stempelt gewoon over de met kladpapier afgedekte (gemaskerde) afbeelding. Is de achtergrond gereed dan verwijder je het kladpapiertje van je afbeelding. Je kunt nu de afbeelding inkleuren zoals gewenst.

Masking

Ingredients:
* cardstock
* masking tape / post it / scratchpaper&non-permanent glue
* StazOn Black
* other stampin ink
* stamp (to color in)
* background stamps

Stamp your main stamp on the cardstock with black StazOn ink. Stamp the same image on masking tape. Cut the image on the masking tape. - cut a bit inside the lines, to prevent white lines covering the image after finishing the card - Stick the image on the masking tape (the mask) on the image at the cardstock. Stamp the background, also stamp on the masking tape. After finishing the background remove the masking tape covering the image on the cardstock. You can color the image any way you want (I used aquarellpencils). Finish the card as desired.

Technique: Chalks

Basistechniek met chalks

benodigdheden:

* papier

* chalks

* versamark inktkussen

* achtergrondstempel

Stempel met de versamark en de achtergrondstempel de hele kaart vol. Zorg dat de afdrukken elkaar niet overlappen en vergeet niet over de kaart heen te stempelen.

Vervolgs kleur je de kaart met de chalks. Je kunt dit doen met de "oogschaduwkwastjes" die vaak bij een doosje chalks zit, is gebruik voor "grof" werk cq het kleuren van grote vlakken liever een watteschijfje. Waar de versamark inkt zit wordt de chalk als het ware geabsorbeert/vastgeplakt.

Voor de afwerking heb ik hier met een sponsje en gele pigmentinkt de randen gesponsd, zodat de overgang rustiger is en je niet een witte rand ziet. Verder swirls met blauwe pigmentinkt erop gestempeld en met zwarte StazOn de tekst. Veel plezier met deze techniek.

Working with chalks
ingredients:

* cardstock
* chalks
* versamark inkpad

* background rubber stamp

Stamp with versamark and the backgroundstamp on the cardstock. Make sure the prints do not overlap and do not forget to stamp over the edges. Color the card with your chalks. Coloring big surfaces I like to use cotton, instead of the applicator that comes with the chalks.
Where there is a print with the versamark, the color will stick on the versamarklines. Kind of absorbing the chalks, like glue. Ready is your background card !
